Scholars at Risk Australia Section Launch

Leaders from universities across Australia will virtually convene on August 19, 2021 to launch the Australia section of Scholars at Risk (SAR).

The SAR Australia Section launch will be held in association with World Humanitarian Day. Participants will gather to explore ways to mobilize Australian society to better understand and defend academic freedom.

In addition to the Vice-Chancellor from the University of Sunshine Coast and SAR’s Executive Director, the launch event will feature remarks from Chief Justice Robert French, esteemed Professor Adrienne Stone, National Director of Amnesty International-Australia Sam Klintworth, Senior Human Rights Watch Researcher Sophie McNeill, and former president of the NTEU Professor Jeannie Rea.
