28 August 2021 @ 9:00 am 12:00 pm

Dear USQ Law Students,

A request has been received for law students to help complete Humanitarian Visa Applications for Afghanis who are in significant danger.  The request is initially to give support as follows:

Times: Saturday 28 August 2021, 9am-12pm

Place:  HumeRidge Church of Christ, 461 Hume Street, Toowoomba

Any questions should be directed to Fatima Aria, at Shine Lawyers:  ariafati22@gmail.com

Fatima’s message to students follows:

Dear students,

I am certain you are all aware of the situation unfolding in Afghanistan. This is a tragic time; our Afghan families and friends are suffering and more importantly they feel helpless. But we as a community can help them. Currently, the Toowoomba community have joined together to assist Afghan families to write letters to the government urging them to increase their refugee intake rates and assist in completing Humanitarian Visa applications for those who are in significant danger.

We have members of many organisations, both from Toowoomba and Brisbane, turning up day in and day out to show their support. But we need more helpers. As there are no support available for these family in other towns, they are traveling down to Toowoomba to receive assistance.

Our community members need us to raise our voices, they need our help now more than ever.  The Toowoomba community is reaching out to you because would be beyond grateful if we can have helpers who have legal experience or are law students who can read/understand government forms, know legal terminology and can question a person’s story to ensure there are no inconsistencies or gaps.

Please Join us at HumeRidge Church of Christ on:

·         Saturday 28th of August – 9 am to 12 pm

This project will continue in the coming weeks. Dates and times are yet to be announced.

If you have any questions or queries do not hesitate to contact myself via E: ariafati22@gmail.com or P: 0469029756 (Text only please)
